MANIFEST 07 / CONTEXTUAL SYSTEMS

Context across every medium.

I built systems for contextual analysis and audience and segment creation across text, video, images and audio. My work connected hands-on engineering with technical leadership, including public-web information collection at scale to support the analysis.

The problem

Useful context needed to extend across media types. Text, video, images and audio each contributed information that could inform how content was understood and how audiences and segments were created.

My role

I built systems for contextual analysis and audience and segment creation across all four media types, combining hands-on engineering with technical leadership.

The decisions and work

The work brought text, video, image and audio analysis into the broader task of creating useful contextual audiences and segments.

It also included collecting public YouTube information at scale. Reliable public-web and open-source information collection, including recovery when collection was interrupted, supported the analysis work.

The outcome

Contextual analysis and audience and segment creation across text, video, images and audio, supported by information collection at scale.

What I took from it

The value of contextual analysis came from connecting the information in different media with a practical use. The engineering leadership work involved keeping collection, analysis and that use aligned.
