MANIFEST 05 / ASYNC PROCESSING

Transcription that handled the edges.

I worked across audio chunking, silence fallback, overlap deduplication, queue heartbeats, and dead-letter failure callbacks. The scope included both transcript handling and the jobs carrying it.

The problem

The transcription workflow included both the handling of audio and text and the jobs carrying that work. Chunk boundaries, overlap, and job failure handling all belonged in that scope.

My role

I worked across audio chunking, silence fallback, overlap deduplication, queue heartbeats, and dead-letter failure callbacks.

The decisions and work

On the processing side, the work included chunking audio, providing silence fallback, and handling repeated material where chunks overlapped.

On the job side, it included queue heartbeats and dead-letter failure callbacks. Those changes kept job liveness and failure handling in the same conversation as transcript processing.

The outcome

The changes covered transcript handling and the jobs carrying it: chunking, overlap deduplication, heartbeats, and dead-letter failure handling.

What I took from it

The processing workflow needed attention at its boundaries. The transcript and the job lifecycle were both part of the system being delivered.
